Summary:
Direct supervision of the maintenance department personnel to ensure employee safety, predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, emergency maintenance, repairs, installation of new equipment, including all record keeping is carried out consistent with efficient and profitable plant operation.
Is part of the plant leadership team participating in Safety preparedness and response, Food Safety, Food Defense, and environmental preparedness and response.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Supervise maintenance activities to ensure optimum reliability and performance of the production and material handling equipment and the physical plant, using in house labor and/or contract personnel, as applicable to ensure that all projects are completed in a timely, professional, and efficient manner.
Safety Coordinator and part of Environmental response team.
Purchaser of repair and project parts as well as consumables and safety supplies.
Ensure that repair and all projects, maintenance work and production work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal statutes.
In accomplishing this objective, it is necessary that all work activities be performed in compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, and any other regulatory agency guidelines.
Ensure that company policy is being carried out in the areas of safety, food safety, quality control, process control, preventative maintenance, addressing proper maintenance of plant and equipment, good manufacturing practices, HACCP plan implementation and maintenance, record keeping, testing and evaluation of plant equipment.
Participate in plant inspection programs including general plant inspections, AIB and FSS inspections, customer audits, regulatory inspections, and other inspections as needed.
Assist the Plant Superintendent with new processes and processing systems upgrades incorporating the best accepted practices with available equipment to ensure optimum performance and efficiency.
Participate in the development of the plant supplies and repairs budget.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Direct and monitor the development of department personnel by overseeing and keeping records of training, job performance and discipline.
Be a leader and participate in plant safety, safety training, and plant safety team members.
ESSENTIAL
Qualifications:
High School/equivalency or greater with 3-5 years maintenance leadership experience 3-5 years of experience with Industrial maintenance mechanical, electrical, automation systems, information systems, facility maintenance, packer/palletizer, and grain elevator system.
AutoCAD experience is a bonus.
Electrical equipment or installation and mobile equipment maintenance, maintaining hydraulics, conveyors, power trains OR Electrical systems (low voltage DC to 480 volts 3 phase).
Proficient in Microsoft Systems Basic mechanical gearing and rigging Able/Willing to work in a cold/ hot environment Able/Willing lift up to 50 pounds Able/Willing to be on call, work holidays or weekend if needed PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in any of the following:
electrical, industrial, or mechanical engineering OR Journeyman's license (in mechanical or electrical) Working knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time salary/exempt position, 40-hour work week with on call requirements.
This position is contingent upon successfully passing both a background check and drug-screening.
